It takes just a single day to produce 2.5 million barrels of crude oil from the niger delta,how long is it going to take for the people of the region to get what they deserve?? The recent chaos of the niger delta was years ago envisaged by late comrade kenule saro-wiwa which on the cover of his book entitled “songs of war” was depicted as guns and roses situation.The failure of the govt. to take control of this guns n roses situation when it first surfaced in the then days of late Isaac adaka boro ,(since hasty judicial killings was tantamount to upsurge in the momentum of the agitation for the struggle) has led to the rebirth of yet another boro, alhaji mujahid abubakar asari dokubo,who is now in limelight today as a result of the govt’s failure to address the problem of the niger delta years ago.Fortunately and unfortunately,the govt. this time around realized that the hang man’s noose spelled doom if applied again.Rather than address the issue,the govt. chose to take the activist into custody,little did they know that the fire being set by their actions concerning the niger delta struggle was going to produce the smoke of militancy,hostage taking,youth unrestiveness,destruction of oil facilities and so on…..In my humble opinion,even now that he(asari) has regained his freedom,the niger delta quest has surpassed him because his incarceration has hatched quite a number of other agitators for the same niger delta struggle.hostage taking forever remains a condemnable act,but the govt. set the fire so why are they complaining about the smoke?now criminals have seen it as a means of making quick money.Though there is a new govt. on ground,the guns ‘n’ roses situation still lingers on.
